Only a few more days

In a few days I’ll be running my three day Kayak Fishing Boot Camp on the Susquehanna River. After which, I’ll be picking up my son at the Airport in Harrisburg PA then starting our 800 mile journey to Alabama for a week of kayak fishing and camping. My son will be fresh off a 5 day backpacking trip in Yosemite.

To say we are the “outdoor types” is a bit of an understatement. My son, who is in his mid 20’s, was born in March and at just several weeks old went on his first family camping trip. I remember it like yesterday. We traveled into a fairly remote state forest camping on the banks of a pristine limestone stream teaming with eager brook trout. The air was cold, the sky was gray, and intermittent snow flurries reminded us that winter’s grip looseness’s slower in some years.

I spoke to my son last night on the phone to go over the gear list. I won’t be returning home after my Kayak Fishing Boot Camp so I’ll have to have all the gear in tow.  As a kayak fishing guide and instructor, planning and lists are a way of life. I think we have it all down… I guess we will see!

I’m planning to post up on the blog every day of our trip so I can share the journey with friends, family and anyone else who follows my blog. I’m looking forward to an eventful road trip as we cross several states and kayak fish some of the most bio diverse flowing waters in North America. Keep following us here on my blog.. it should be a great one!
